Mission Resolution: Week 3-4

Firstly, I’d like to start off by wishing the best dude in the world (aka, mine.) a very happy birthday. He’s 28 today! Old man. Kidding. Kind of. No,okay, really I’m kidding. But I’m 21 so it’s more or less my job to tease.

Secondly, I’d like to say that this weekend has been exactly what I needed. After a stressful week, it’s been nice to relax/party/bowl/enjoy a snow day and play with my friends and hubby. And there’s more to come for super-bowl /birthday bash tonight. So be ready for a long blog on a lovely weekend in the next couple of days. But for now, Ahem! Du-Nuh-Nuh-Nuh (In my head, this is really dramatic, exciting music) Mission Resolutions! Week Three and Four!

I have a lot of resolutions set out for 2011; In an attempt to both organize and complete them, I’ve set out to keep a running record of what I’ve completed each week. Hopefully this will help keep me motivated and focused. At the very least, it should be entertaining.

-Write in Journal at least twice a week.

I’ve been doing a pretty good job of this so far. I got a little discouraged because my dog ate the front page off, but I recovered by making kindergarten style art-work on the bitten second page. I kind of like it more like this anyway. The messiness is more me and brings an extra oomph to my writing, I think.

-Learn/Have fun in upcoming Martial Arts class.

The first couple weeks weren’t so bad. Now, even though this class is only two days a week, my body hurts 75 percent of the time. I thought I had broken my ribs the other day, but it was actually just muscles near my ribs I had never used before. Dude has us learning ab workouts where our legs do the ABC’S up in the air, doing twirly kicks that make me dizzy, mastering jabs that could severely injure enemies (muahaha!) and attempting crawling push-ups that make me want to cry. Though I’m a consistent jogger, I haven’t felt this in shape in a while. This Martial Arts class ain’t no joke.

– Discover/Do at least 15 new places/things in Austin.

#3. I recently went to a place called “Happy Boba Tea”, and had some really yummy almond bubble tea with a friend. Last week when it got super chilly (for Texas, anyway), I remembered they had coffee and went back by myself for a chocolate malt cappuccino. Oh,man. Sex in a cup, I promise. Luckily, this new joint is about 10 minutes from my house. They’ll be seeing a lot of me.

#4. Husband’s parents took us to Logan’s Road House for his birthday. My choice? Chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, loaded potato soup, mac and cheese and lots of buttery rolls. Yum. I should be so overweight and I don’t know why I am not yet. Maybe Martial Arts? I’m about to warm up leftovers because I just made myself really hungry writing this down.

-Maintain and Better on-campus radio show.

As some of you know, I have a radio show on campus with a few friends. It started with just myself and a close girl-friend of mine, awkwardly rambling and giggling for an hour while trying to work through various technicalities. Last semester, knowing we needed a little something extra, we added a new dude friend of ours. This semester a guy buddy from my high-school transferred to Concordia, and we decided he would be the perfect addition to complete our show. So this is Un Poco De Todo (A little bit of everything, and no, it’s not in Spanish.) Round 2. Our show both looks, feels and sounds complete now.  We all play off of the other and we’re actually kind of funny! Also. Recently, we took pictures with Katie’s snazzy camera and will be printing out flyers to pass around campus and to friends soon. A confession: The photo-shoot made me feel really cool. Thus, while everyone else looked suave, I mostly looked like an over-excited ten year old with a parent on bring your child to work day. But I still love ’em. Here we are:

Ps: You can hear us every Friday at 1pm Standard Central Time by clicking here. Be prepared to listen to four oddballs and a nice mix of music for an hour!

Now I’m off to celebrate the weekend/hubby’s 28th/Superbowl. Happy Sunday,y’all!

  1. i like the pic on the bench.

what sort of martial arts are you doing? I tried, well – tried to try, mhuy thai (??) but the first 10 min were running and my knees don’t work so I was OUT. I watched the rest of the class and would like to try it again some time but not at the same studio.

learn to block a punch! karate taught me to throw a good punch but I never learned to block – so anyone can still take me out in an instant.
